So there are like 2 or 3 subaru dealers in the entire country? Total volume of about 1,800 units. I bet my local subaru dealer sells 500-800 cars a year.

They have sixteen dealers and move 1100 units a year... that’s an average of six units per month, per dealer. Must be a pretty boring job. Best seller is the crosstrek, selling about as much as the Kia Stinger.
Mercedes sells twice as many GLCs as subaru sells cars in general...

You need to consider how cheap labor and land is here in Mexico. Also, Subaru launched an aggressive campaign this year to “dominate” the Mexican hipster-pothead market, and take it back for good from the Kia Soul .

not in many years, it was before Subaru’s rise to dominance, which I think started right around the same time as the last recession.
It is kind of weird for a major automaker to be so popular in a handful of fairly small areas and kind of a second tier brand everywhere else. It's sort of like how Reliant used to make about 2/3 of their sales just in the coal mining region in the North of England, despite being a national brand.

Subaru sold a total of 323 cars in the Netherlands in the first 8 months of 2019. 27 of those were Legacies. Subaru as a whole has 0.11% of the market. It’s the #32 best selling brand, sandwiched between DS at #31 and Smart at #33 (and Bentley at #34)
Subaru is a niche brand.
